Dear students,
The Korea Institute of Science and Technology (KIST) is proudly ranked as one of the most innovative research institutes in the world by well-known media and academic journal such as Thompson Reuters, and Nature
KIST was launched as Korea's first government-funded R&D institute in 1966, laying the foundation for the Korean industrial development in major areas. KIST also played a leading role in establishing a national innovation system, with help establishing 16 government research institutes in specialized research field
Now KIST is striving to make greater contributions to the future based on our accumulated research capabilities and achievements.
More than the half century of its establishment, KIST faces a new challenge: GRaND (Globally Recognized and Nationally Dedicating) KIST, which proudly recognizes KIST as a leading role in the world and makes greater dedication to the nation.
Under the belief that the future depends entirely on creative talent, KIST has been also striving to foster science and technology talents with programs differentiated from academia.
Starting with the master's and Ph.D. courses, collaborating with universities in 1990, KIST has operated various S&T talent training programs such as IRDA (International R&D Academy), UST (University of Science & Technology, and KU (Korea University)-KIST School. Focused on the convergence curriculum, it launched KIST School to become a hub education institution for global innovation and education system.
KIST School will proactively respond to the rapidly changing future environment by providing research-oriented educational opportunities focusing on convergence technology and by fostering excellent S&T talents necessary for future society.
Through a new challenge for ‘GRaND KIST’, we will do our best to contribute creating ‘GRaND KOREA’ and further along ‘GRaND WORLD’.
